In May, John and Annie Holloway (Costa Natura, Apartment 70) stayed at the Cypress Cove Nudist Resort, which is sited alongside a lake, near Kissimmee in Central Florida. This area, around Orlando, has many attractions such as The Kennedy Space Centre, Walt Disney World, The EPCOT Centre, Universal Studios and many others – so it is a great place for sight-seeing – as well as nudism (naturism). In America, it is called nudism.
Florida has a tropical climate which is rather different from that of Andalucia. The high season extends from November through to April, when it is warm, sunny and relatively dry. Low season starts in May and becomes progressively hotter and more humid during summer when regular thunderstorms can be expected – often during the mid-afternoon period.
Nudism is alive and well in the U.S.A!
Cypress Cove is a large, family-friendly, nudist site, established in 1964. The total area is many times larger than Costa Natura and features areas for private housing, camping and caravanning pitches and several blocks of hotel rooms (84, arranged mainly in blocks of 16) – all these areas are fully nudist. We stayed in the largest hotel room, described as a ‘Remodeled Villa’ and found it to be very spacious and comfortable. We were very happy with the accommodation, which had been thoroughly refurbished in the past few years, to a high standard. A full hotel service was provided with cleaning and linen/towel changes provided daily.
There are many facilities, 2 large swimming pools each with a jacuzzi, The ‘Cheeks’ Bar and Restaurant and a second, more formal, restaurant, the Lakeside. The food was very good at both places. There were many other facilities – hairstyling and manicure, massage, a large and modern gym, poolside and casual wear shop, library and many others. The reception building also contains a shop, where basic provisions can be purchased.
Everyone we met, staff and holiday-makers, were very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed our holiday at Cypress Cove immensely. Nudism was very widely practised, even in the restaurants, during the evening.
